what is the environment except my body and your body and the breath we exhale and the grass between our toes and the roots beneath the soil and the soil itself
this piece explores the idea of the self and body as a temporary state, with the acknowledgement that we exist in an environment that is fluid, impermanent, and cyclical.
the oblong composition reflects the forward motion of time, while square forms with varying delineation- some firm, some soft, some nonexistent- represent shifting identities and porous boundaries. loose, quick drawings, scattered splatters, and relaxed brush strokes evoke the natural world’s rhythm. birds in flight and blurred figures in motion suggest freedom and transience. trees, considered brethren by many indigenous communities, are a prominent motif.
